A nice encounter

On an early evening ride a few days ago I rode my Bullet to the top of Mount Tolmie in Victoria.  Beautiful sunset views of the city, sea, and surrounding hills and mountains from there.
While I was parked and looking around an elderly couple came up to my Royal Enfield and were quite excited.  They were quite pleased to see the bike and called their friends over to check it out.
The gentleman told me that after World War II he and his new wife bought a Royal Enfield dispatch motorbike.  For them, this was not just a means of transport, but, it appeared to me, that riding the Enfield seemed to bring a lot of joy to them.
While the gentleman and I spoke a bit about the motorcycle, his wife circled around the bike, keeping her hand on it while walking.  This holding wasn't from need for support, but was an aid to good memories.  'We had such good times on that bike' she said.
He told me that they bought the bike for 50 pounds, and when they decided to come to Canada they sold the bike for 50 pounds - which happened to be the price of one of their boat tickets.
They quite liked my silver Bullet.

It made me think of this older RE ad.
